Chestnut
Castanea spp.
These beautiful, large, broad-spreading nut trees are prized for their showy catkins in June which are followed by sweet, edible nuts. Our seedlings produce abundant crops of large, high-quality nuts are reportedly resistant to Chestnut Blight, a fatal disease of Chestnuts in the eastern U.S. Chestnuts prefer a sunny location with well-drained soil. Two or more trees should be planted for cross-pollination. Our Colossal seedlings will eventually grow to 25 feet or more in height and are hardy to minus 25°F.
