About Buckeye Pullet
- A large breed, adult bird weighs 6.5 to 8 lbs
- Calm and docile temperament
- Average layer of 175 to 250 a year
- Lays eggs that are brown in color
- The Buckeye originated from the State of Ohio. They are the only chicken breed of the American class to have been developed by a female, Nettie Metcalf. They are hardy in the winter, but not especially heat hardy. They are a dual purpose bird that make excellent broilers
